The truths we hold to, will not waver from and use to fuel the passion of Brentwood Church

About the Scriptures

We believe the entire Bible is inspired from God’s imagination 1,2 and that men were moved by the Spirit to write the very words of Scripture.3 Therefore, the Bible is full of mystery, but without error.4,5

About God

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).6,7,8 We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh9 to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the spiritually unreconciled world.10,11,12,13,14

About Mankind

We believe that man was created in the image of God15,16 to have a friendship with Him, but became alienated from that relationship through sinful disobedience.17 As a result, man is totally incapable of coming back into a right relationship with God by his own effort.18,19,20

About Salvation

We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sins.21,22,23 Therefore, salvation only occurs when a person places his faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for his sin.24,25

About the Christ-follower’s life

We believe that every Christ-follower should live for Christ and not for himself.26,27,28 By obedience to the Scriptures and daily yielding to the Spirit,29,30,31 every believer should mature and become conformed to the image of Christ.32,33,34

About the Church

We believe that the church is the body of Christ of which Jesus Christ is the Head.35,36,37,38,39,40,41 The members are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ.42 The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to an unresolved world.43,44,45,46

About Baptism

We believe that baptism is an outward signification of the grace of God in the life of a believer.47,48 It is symbolic of salvation, not part of salvation.49,50,51,52 Since it is a symbol, we believe that only those professing a personal faith in Christ should be baptized.53,54,55,56,57
