READ | HEBREWS 4:12-16
When we think about transformation, it’s easy to make it abstract, something that we understand but never experience. However, the author of Hebrews reminds us that transformation starts with an encounter with God’s word. Transformation begins when we allow God’s word to cut through our old ways of thinking and living, and point us to Jesus, who wants to change us to look more like Him.
I think that’s why I’m afraid to read the Bible. I’m afraid of what God will say to me through His word, how I’ll be cut, how I’ll be exposed, what parts of my life will be brought to light. The good news is there’s grace in this process! The author of Hebrews reminds us that Jesus understands our weaknesses, and still wants to transform us anyways!
Building Brentwood is about allowing God to use His people, His calling, His promises for our church, to expose us, to cut us, to shape us, to transform us to look more like Him, to love Him more. That starts with us opening His word and letting it transform us so we can be part of transforming others.
When has God used His word to transform you?
