Our connection with God has been broken, and we as humans are in need to restore our connection with our Creator.
Salvation is more than the forgiveness of sins, but it starts there. The sacrificial death and spilled blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sins. This means faith – and not our human efforts – is what restores our connection with God. But then salvation ignites a total-life transformation that is directed by God’s Spirit in the Christ-follower. (Romans 5:8; II Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 2:2). Therefore, salvation only occurs when a person places his faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient atonement for his or her sins (John 3:16; Romans 10:9-13) and accepts the invitation to follow him for life.
If you want to be saved and become a Christ-follower, start by confessing your sins to God and expressing your desire to follow Jesus for life (1 John 1:9; John 14:15). Soon after, God’s Spirit will guide you to embrace His Church as a new family.
